After winning their first three games of the Midwest Regionals, Robbinsdale's 12-year old all-stars were beaten Thursday (August 5) in their final "pool play" game 8-1 by Missouri. Missouri needed the victory to stay alive. Robbinsdale had already clinched a semifinal berth.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the first, Robbinsdale got on the board thanks to Tyler Ockuly's 2nd homerun of the tournament. Ockuly's solo shot tied the game at 1-1 after one.
In the top of the third, Missouri regained the lead at 2-1. In the bottom of three, Minnesota threatened but didn't score. Jack Halverson led off with a single. With two outs and a runner at first, Ockuly came to the plate again. This time he was intentionally walked, and David Tranvik grounded out to end the inning.
Missouri added another in the 4th off starter Nick Lauer. Lauer was replaced in the 5th by Brandon harrison who allowed 5 runs in two innings as Missouri went on to win 8-1. The win moved Missouri into one semifinal against Iowa, while Robbinsdale will meet South Dakota in the other semi-final.
