Robbinsdale Little Leaguers go to 2-and-0

Robbinsdale's Little League All-Stars continued their quest for a World Series berth as they defeated Kansas 10-3 on Monday night (Aug 2) in the Midwest Regional in Indianapolis. Nick Lauer pitched five strong innings allowing just one earned run and Tyler Ockuly had 3 hits including a long homerun to lead off the 4th. Brandon Harrison pitched the final inning for Robbinsdale, striking out the side.

Robbinsdale opened the scoring in the first inning when Sam Mayes reached base after getting hit by a pitch. Ockuly followed with a single and Harrison drove in both runners with another single. In the second, Ockuly tripled home Lauer to give Robbinsdale a 3-0 lead. After giving up two unearned runs in the top of the third, Robbinsdale responded with two of their own in the bottom of the inning as Michael Vella singled home Harrison and Michael Keefe. In the fourth, Ockuly led off with a long homerun over the center field flag pole. That opened the flood gates, and four more runners crossed the plate during the inning to give Robbinsdale a 10-2 lead.

Robbinsdale (2-0) plays Nebraska (0-2) on Tuesday (Aug 3). With its two wins, Robbinsdale has nearly assured itself a spot in the semifinals on Friday. The Midwest Regional Championship game is on Sunday (Aug 8).
